Rick Clarke, Product Manager
Rick Clarke is NIBE’s Product Manager, he joined the business at the start of 2024. Rick is responsible for the entire life cycle of NIBE’s products “from cradle to grave”, supporting updates to already established technologies and advising on those in development.
A key part of his role and one that Rick particularly enjoys, is being involved in different projects, working with individuals and teams across the breadth of the business “We’re a tight crew here,” says Rick, “and there’s no room for working in silos. The quality of the work is very high, and everyone is super friendly, approachable and very knowledgeable.”
Rick’s job is varied, and day to day he could be involved with anything from conducting on-the-ground research or competitor analysis, to keeping product documentation updated, networking and giving a technical perspective in sales meetings.
Having worked with heat pumps for the past 14 years, Rick has built up an in-depth knowledge of the industry. After kicking-off his career as a plumbing and heating engineer in 2008, Rick soon switched to heat pumps and set up his own installation firm in 2010. Later, he spent three years at Vaillant, where he held several technical roles including Product Manager for Renewables.
NIBE’s dedication to developing top-quality products was one of the key attractions for Rick. “NIBE is a customer-focussed business, and we’re recognised across the industry for the quality of our offering. Industry-leading technology is backed by a really experienced technical team, and our customer service is also excellent.”
“One product that really stands out as my favourite is NIBE’s Exhaust Air Heat Pump range, specifically the S735. With lots of new builds popping up in the UK, finding a low carbon, renewable technology that fits well in these buildings can be difficult. The S735 ticks all the boxes – it’s app-controlled and fits well in a relatively small space.”
For Rick, the future of the heat pump industry looks bright. “Previously, the renewable industry was left in the corner while the gas and oil companies got far more airtime and interest.”
“Recently, though, this has started to flip on its head and we’re seeing the Heat Pump Association (HPA) starting to have a stronger influence on the government and its policy here in the UK. This is really positive for the heat pump sector and the environment more generally.”
"We just need to shift the culture a bit more to show people that there is nothing to be worried about, but actually many, many benefits to embracing heat pumps.”
