This new Side Panel module is to be used instead of all other types of "on page" -side menus in Sitevision as support for them will be removed in the first quarter of 2023.
You add the module to the page via the Modules icon (cube) in the tool bar. Enter "NB Side Panel" in the module search bar and select it to add it to your page. Right-click the module on the page and choose "Settings" to get access to the module settings.
A selected color theme is required and the choice between Blue or Green is given and will only affect the background color the panel. Text and links will always be white.
Select if the Side Panel is to be opened from the left or the right of the page.
The panel has a fixed width and always take up the full height of the browser, even on mobile devices.
The side panel can be opened in two ways, either by clicking the panel tab that is always visible when the panel is closed and/or by a custom created link on the page.
Each panel has the possibility to show custom text in the opening-tab (max 20 chars).
The side panel tab is connected to its side panel and will automatically open it.
The other way is for the editor to create a custom link on the page and enter the code #nbsidepanel
as the URL via the link tool.
It's only possible to have ONE side panel on a page.
Menu
If selected content type is "menu", enter custom heading, menu starting point and desired menu level (max levels is 2).
Text / Image / Video
If selected content type is "Text / Image / Video" a rich text editor is opened where it's possible to enter text, images, links, images and videos (Only Vimeo videos is supported).
Menu starting point
Click to choose starting point for the cascading menu node from within the file tree pages in your website in Site Vision.
Maybe you want to use the same panel, for example the "Support panel", on multiple pages?
Create the original panel on desired page and then add the module "Linked portlet" via the Modules icon (cube) in the tool bar to the page you want to show the clone on and then choose the link to the page with the original side menu panel. Remember that the menu can only be opened by clicking the panel tab or a custom created link on that page as described above.
Even if you just want to use the panel on one page we recommend to always put your original side panels on one page and then link to them via the "Linked portlet", that way it's easy to keep tab on the original panels.
